Miss Lisa

Owner and Artistic Director, Miss Lisa Brown, a born dancer from
the age of five, has been dancing for over 35 years throughout
the United States and overseas, including Iceland in the
1970’s. With a rich background in European Art and dance
styles, Miss Lisa developed an early love for the arts.
Performing competitively in High School and College, her
training includes gymnastics, cheerleading, competitive dance
teams, and classical ballet training. She is also a graduate of
Sac State University with Dean List honors, many achievement
awards, and BFA degree.
Celebrating her 20th year in business with Encore!
Serving the Elk Grove community, Miss Lisa has made it possible
for over 20,000 students to experience the joy of learning and
performing theater arts.
“I believe the City of Elk Grove is
deserving of a quality facility to continue the excellence of
training in the arts that we have already started at Encore!
This is my motivation for the
future building
project. I look forward to many more enjoyable years with
children in the Elk Grove community." |

Miss Dana

Miss Dana has been
dancing since the age of four which makes her total amount of time
dancing 22 years!Growing up in the Bay Area, Dana trained at a very
reputable dance studio, Dance Attack!. There, Dana was selected
to join their dance company which was very accomplished and she got to
dance in numerous community events around the area and also got to dance
in a 49er and a Sabercats (indoor football) half-time show. The company
went to dance conventions all over California sweeping the high awards
during the competitions repeatedly. Also, being on this company, Dana
got to dance with Nick Lazzarini, the winner of the first season of
So You Think You Can Dance. Dana also danced in numerous musical
theatre shows in the area.
After graduating from
high school, Dana attended Cal State Chico. While living in Chico, Dana
was selected to be on the Chico State Dance Company (which she also
helped choreograph for), was chosen to be in numerous community dance
shows and was asked to teach at the local high school.
Dana moved to Sacramento
in January to pursue her teaching credentials at Cal State Sacramento.
The love of dance prompted Dana to find a dance teaching job as soon as
possible. She was lucky enough to meet Miss Lisa Brown and is now a
teacher at Encore! Studio of Performing Arts!! |

Miss Karli

Previously a dancer at Encore! Studio of Performing Arts for over 13
years, Miss Karli is excited to be sharing her passion of dance with
students of her own. Centering mostly in ballet, Miss Karli enjoys
teaching ballet and tap as well as choreographing routines of her own.
“I
love being able to share with other little ballerinas my love of dance.
I obtain great satisfaction and excitement from teaching them new moves
and positions as well as watching them grow and learn alongside me too!”
A
college freshman at UC Davis, Miss Karli loves to come back on the
weekends to teach class and is grateful for the amazing opportunity she
has had to further her dancing career by now teaching alongside her
mentor and friend of many years, Encore! director Miss Lisa Brown.

Miss Kendra

Miss
Kendra has been dancing since the age of three. She has studied ballet,
tap, jazz, modern, hip hop, and hula in both California and Hawai’i.
She has danced in countless shows and competitions, including a dance
team state championship win at the California State Talent and
Performing Arts Competition. She minored in Dance Theatre at the
University of Hawai’i, where her curriculum included classes in dance
technique, history, theory, and choreography, and dance education. Miss
Kendra’s two children are students at Encore!
“I
chose Encore for my children’s dance education because of the studio’s
traditional curriculum and its focus on the art and storytelling of
dance. They love learning and performing their “roles” in productions,
and I enjoy seeing them experience the discipline and etiquette of dance
classes. Because of my own love of dance, I am happy to join the
Encore! staff as an instructor.”
Miss Kendra’s classes at Encore! include
First Steps in Dance,
Pre-Ballet & Tap,
and Ballet for Ages
8+.
Miss Kendra is also a Registered Dietitian and Certified Diabetes
Educator at a hospital in Sacramento. |

Miss Kim
Teacher

Miss
Kim (San Jose, CA) has over 16 years of training, choreography,
and performance experience in the areas of jazz, hip-hop, tap,
lyrical, theatre, and ballet.
In her pre/early
teens, her experience was gained through studio environments,
recitals, competitions, dance conventions, and performances at local
events. In her mid/late teens she started dancing professionally
for Paramount's Great America, and was cast in the Nickelodeon
variety shows “Nicktoon's Rockin' Countdown” and “Nicktoon's Summer
Jam”. She also started back-up dancing for Bay Area vocal artists
Yvette Jones and M:G, performing in the San Jose, San Francisco, and
Los Angeles areas. After a three year hiatus in Los Angeles, Miss
Kim moved to Elk Grove in 2003 to finish college and continue
dancing. In 2005, Miss Kim started teaching CSD classes
(tap/jazz/ballet combo, hip-hop, creative movement). The following
year she was cast as a background dancer in a music video with one
of the best-known DJs worldwide, Paul Oakenfold, and actress/vocal
artist, Brittany Murphy.
Miss Kim was able
to continue her love of teaching at Encore! Studio by becoming a
member of the Encore! Staff in January 2007. Recently, she became a
certified Zumba Instructor with Miss Lisa. Miss Kim is so thrilled
to be back in a studio environment where she can continue to gain
more valuable teaching experience and performance opportunities.
She feels right at home! |

Miss Wendy
Teacher

At the young age of 5, Miss Wendy developed a passion for dance and
has enjoyed dancing throughout her life. She is a mother of two.
Miss Wendy has lived in the Sacramento area for more than 15 years.
She and her husband moved to Elk Grove in 2002. Miss Wendy also
enjoys opera, ballet and art history. She has been teaching at
Encore! for one year, and enjoys the "Encore!" way of teaching the
art of dance to the community. She enjoys watching all of her
students grow with joy and love for dance.

Miss Amanda
Teacher

Miss Amanda has been dancing at
Encore! Studio of Performing Arts since 1998. She is currently a
teacher and a student at Encore! and is taking ballet, tap, and
lyrical classes. She was also Cinderella in the 2007 July
performance of Cinderella at Encore! She began teaching dance
at the age of sixteen. Her love for children really shows through
her teaching.
She
is presently attending Bradshaw Christian High School, and is as
devoted to her studies as she is to dance. She also is making plans
to attend college while continuing her dancing career.

each week and enjoy what each student brings to the class. I can’t
help but smile as I watch them develop into beautiful, young
dancers. It never ceases to amaze me how much they can learn in one
session – and they are ever so adorable on stage.”

Kyle
Teacher

A student at Encore! for 7+ years,
Kyle has been under the direction of Miss Lisa Brown
studying a range of performing arts from dance to
musical theater. He started dancing at the age of
eleven only taking one class a week at Encore! From
there, he grew a passion for dance and now takes
approximately 6 hours of dance classes, such as
Ballet, Lyrical/Modern/Contemporary, Tap, and Jazz.
Along with all of his classes, he has also branched
off, putting himself in the choreographer’s shoes
and is now on his second year student choreographing
at Encore! He has won category winner at local
competitions for his choreography and has been
dancing competitively for over 4 years now. He also
has a passion for filmmaking, making our Encore!
Bloopers for our show DVDs. He has been involved
with the community through Encore! as well as
through his school. A senior at Florin High and
President of his school’s FFA chapter has really
connected Kyle with the community. He does a
numerous amount of community service, even if he is
not dancing. Kyle plans to double major in Dance and
Agriculture to become a Dance and Agriculture
teacher so that he can spread the love of dance and
Agriculture that Encore! and FFA has given him.

Miss Emily
Teacher

Emily Hubler Ramey is a recent transplant to California from
Philadelphia, PA, where she danced professionally for the last 12
years. Her work with Group Motion Dance Company (member from
1999-2007) included tours to France, Germany, England, Cyprus,
Poland, Lithuania and Japan. She performed in and collaborated
on dances by director Manfred Ficshbeck and guest artists from
around the world. Miss Emily has taught all ages of dancers in
studios, colleges, and community centers since 1996. She is a
graduate of the University of Arts, Philadelphia, PA (1996) and
Interlochen Arts Academy, Interlochen, MI (1992). Miss Emily
has received grants and awards for her choreography and she has
presented her work regularly in Philadelphia as well as in some
European dance festivals. |

Miss Katie

A native
of Sacramento, Katie Rogers performed with the Sheldon
High School dance company Universal Rhythm
(1997-2000). She studied ballet at Bobbi Bader’s The
Ballet Studio for six years and was given the
opportunity to substitute teach classes as well as
assist in Ms.Bader’s children’s classes. She expanded
her dance education at CSU Sacramento under Dale Scholl
and Dr.Linda Goodrich (2000-2004), and in 2004 Ms.Rogers
earned her BA in Theatre Arts (Dance). From 2005
to 2007 Ms.Rogers studied ballet with Sonya Delwaide-Nichols
at Mills College. In May of 2007, Ms.Rogers completed a
two-year MFA program in Performance and Choreography at
Mills College. While at Mills Ms.Rogers performed works
by Martha Graham, Anna Sokolow, Molissa Fenely, and
others in the Mills College Repertory Company.

Miss Verna
Boutique |

Verna
joined Miss Lisa and Encore! in August 2002. Miss
Verna has a daughter who has been dancing at Encore! since she
was three and a half (her daughter is now ten). Miss
Verna’s son is also a dancer, and has been dancing for over
three years.
Miss Verna works in the Step In
Time Boutique selling dancewear, dance shoes, tights,
and seasonal items. She takes care of registering students,
taking payments, dealing with paperwork, taking messages,
answering phone calls, and scheduling make-up classes. In
addition to her tasks concerning the boutique, Miss Verna also
does a lot of work with the Jr/Sr dance companies. At recitals,
she helps out by running the lobby, taking care of tickets and
seating guests, among other various tasks.
“I love my job at Encore! It
has given me a lot of self-worth. I have been taught a lot at
Encore! and continue to learn everyday. I love each and every
one of my co-workers. We are all like family.”
